Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one victories have been achieved on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev claimed his initial championship for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has had a challenging season, achieving just one win at the big events and experiencing a difficult moment at the American major.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his service game in especial - caused him dropping out of the world's top 10 and eventually parting ways with former trainer Cervara.

Now working with Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, he has consistently improved in the past month - peaking in a hard-fought three-set triumph over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial trophy since the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of that year.

Success also signifies he has achieved twenty-one titles at 21 various tournaments.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my children simultaneously, so to get a championship is particularly special," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter my daughter, because the first title I achieved when my first daughter my daughter was born was for her."

Medvedev, the 2021 US Open champion, had failed in his previous six title deciders, comprising in Halle earlier this year.

Medvedev's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the tennis court had prompted commentators to wonder if his capacity to perform at the elite level was over.

Yet the athlete has altered his approach in the past month, striving to advance forward and perform positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He recovered from a break down in the opening set against the difficult Frenchman, taking four of the last five games to gain the advantage.

The competitors swapped breaks in the following set before Moutet, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to force a final set.

He saved 4 early break points in a tight deciding set before Medvedev broke to that score to secure the win.

Suitably, he clinched the win with a rally at the net area, with Moutet failing to handle a return after two hours and 38 minutes.
