An individual who laced candy with sedative and provided them to youngsters at a summer camp in the area has admitted sexual crimes against two children who were nine and ten years old.
Jon Ruben was taken into custody after eight minors and a grown-up fell ill at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from the Nottinghamshire area, confessed to a multiple criminal counts when he was present at the judicial center on the end of the week.
However, he denied a single sexual charge he was facing, which was involving a nine-year-old boy.
Ruben was remanded in custody prior to a subsequent court date on November 28th.
'Sweet game'
The prosecutor, prosecuting, detailed the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his those affected were under-privileged children who were participating in a summer program which he operated.
Ruben engaged in a "treat game" with the youngsters, the prosecutor explained, in which he would access the boys' rooms when they were settling down and ask them to ingest treats "as quickly as they can".
She told the court Ruben had conducted this practice with the young males "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously become sick the subsequent day.
She said Ruben had been able to explain this over a long period as the children being "overstimulated by activities", until his family member had suspicions in July 2025.
The prosecutor stated further: "In the summer" his stepson had concerns about the situation, with valid cause.
"They decided to have a look in the defendant's belongings."
Mrs Prior KC stated objects including infant oil, Vaseline and injection devices were found, and his stepson contacted the police about his suspicions.
She explained Ruben went on to play the "treat game" with six youngsters that time - July 26th - and they were everyone unwell the following morning.
"Law enforcement" had not gone out by that time," she continued.
The regulatory agency, the police conduct office, earlier informed that it was examining Leicestershire Police's handling of the incident.
Mrs Prior explained the minors were unable to walk properly due to being ill, so Ruben's stepson contacted the authorities once more.
She explained the man then played the "candy game" in a area of five youngsters.
