Local Law Enforcement
Approximately fifty automobiles have been marked with what seems to be human blood in the Germany's town of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, as reported by law enforcement.
Cars, walls and postal boxes were marked, sometimes with prohibited symbols, they stated in a statement.
Police say they were notified during the night on Wednesday, when a resident discovered that a vehicle in the Lamboy area of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued substance.
The substance had been drawn in the form of a swastika, they added.
Officers then located numerous other vandalized cars and house walls in the surrounding area.
These symbols are prohibited in Germany under regulations prohibiting the visible presentation of Nazi symbols.
Police state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.
"At present there remains no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in connection with the incident," they added.
Local authorities stated they were working "to resolve the incident" and have asked to the residents for details.
A high-ranking representative stated the vandalism rendered him stunned and required to be solved quickly.
"This act strikes at the very heart of Hanau and revives the wounds of the far-right violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on social media, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman focusing on residents of immigrant origin in five years prior.
